Welcome to my Web site! I am a freelance technical writer and instructor. During 25 years of business, I developed a very diverse background, along with an understanding of the importance of deadlines and customer service.

Technical writers must possess superior grammar skills, advanced level word processing skills, and a kean awareness of the target audience. Moreover, they must have subject matter expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with the subject matter expert (SME).

I have acquired expertise in these areas:

• Technical writing instruction
  I teach technical writing at Humber College (North Campus, Toronto, ON).

• Industrial laser autofocus devices
  I am a contract technical writer and editor for a major manufacturer in Markham, ON, Canada (WDI Industrial Sensors and Process Automation).

• Pathology
  As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), I have practiced in all five departments of the medical laboratory including: hematology, microbiology, histology, immunohaematology, and clinical chemistry.

• Horticulture
  I owned and operated a successful lawn care franchise (Weed Man^TM) for 25 years, during which time I gained substantial expertise in turf diseases, destructive turf insects, turf establishment, and maintenance. I am a certified instructor for non-licensed applicators.

• Electronics
  Loudspeaker design (using Thiele-Small parameters) has been my hobby for 26 years.

• Music
  I have been a professional stage musician for 22 years, and operator of a small recording studio, with experience in audio recording software, MIDI sequencing software, and audio editing.

• Home and commercial renovations
  Home and commercial renovations have allowed me to develop skills in framing, drywall finishing, electrical wiring, plumbing, heating, painting, roofing, and trimming.

  Procedural and reference manuals for home electronics, home theatre systems, loudspeaker systems, laboratory instruments, optical instruments, horticulture, and wood construction.

• Web site content editing
  Web sites often consist of poor layout, graphic clutter, difficult navigation schemes, and inconsistent formats. I believe a Web site should be a large, content specific version of your business card. Does your Web site call your client to action? Do your readers click that important "Contact Us" button, only to find that the link is outdated or has failed? If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions, I can help.

• Student essay editing
  Students at all levels (secondary school, college, and university) who are required to write essays may know their subject matter, but often lack the necessary skills to produce an effective and readable paper. I am pleased to offer special student rates.
